How meditation and self-awareness practice can help with everyday problems!

In our everyday lives, many of us may struggle with problems that can seem very hard to improve. How many of us struggle to sleep well or even to relax properly? How many of us struggle with low self esteem or the feeling that we are not good enough? How many of us feel disconnected from ourselves or others or feel unhappy without knowing why? How many of us struggle with anxiety, mild depression, even self harming?

Many of us go searching for help for these types of issues. Sometimes we get help, sometimes we are offered medication that suppresses our natural feelings and emotions and sometimes we find nothing. Basic, practical meditation and self-awareness exercises done regularly over time can really help with these types of problems. I’ve personally seen many students ‘let go’ of some of the problems that were really dogging their daily lives. I use the words ‘let go’ deliberately as that is actually what happens, so let me explain more.

So how can meditation help us to understand our issues more?

We often try to tackle some issues ‘head on’, we try to analyse them, rationalise them in our minds. Now the mind is a very powerful and important aspect of ourselves. We may have even been told our problems are all ‘in the mind’, but it is often more complex than that. The source of our problems in our emotional, physical and energy bodies do not start in the mind but elsewhere in ourselves and to get to the heart of it and to resolve it we need to go beyond the mind and listen with our complete bodies. The Chakras are a useful way to explore ourselves more completely and take us to all the aspects of ourself beyond the mind. The Base, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Brow and Crown chakras reflect different aspects of our complete self. For example, self esteem issues are often located in the Solar Plexus area. Focusing your breath and your attention on this area may reveal much more to you than just thinking about it. We can learn to move our breath around our body to check how we feel physically, emotionally and spiritually and we can also use it to offer healing to our energy centres.

How can meditation help us to improve our issues?

Once we become aware of how we feel energetically and we want to improve it, we can use our breath and our intention to do that. You don’t need to believe anything in particular to achieve this. However, if you do, I ask that you connect to your Greatest Highest Good, whatever that is for you. It can be a Christian God, Allah, the Earth, Angels. Connecting to the energies available to us in the unseen world are a powerful tool for healing. We can all do this but most of us never think to ask for help. We can then learn to breath into, lighten and cleanse our energy centres. The more we learn to do this the more effective this becomes. Energy follows thought but also changing our energy affects our physical and emotional states. Students who have done this with me over a relatively short period of time, notice that some of their issues lessen or disappear. They can’t put a precise time on when this happened, they just become aware they no longer feel things in the way they used to. This is the process of letting go. Healing at your source, doing it yourself under guidance rather than hoping someone else can solve it for you. It can produce great and effective change within us all.

At the very least, you can learn to take control of listening and healing yourself. You can learn to relax yourself even for 10 minutes every day and this gathers more energy for you. That’s why Carla and I created our Core Power Programme, so you could start some basic but powerful exercises to help you with everyday issues without focusing on them head on.
